The Guernsey FA is pleased to announce the appointment of a new management team to oversee the Under 18 Representative squad for the 2024/25 season. The management team is as follows:
Head Coach – Leon Meakin
Assistants – Jamie Dodd & Jason Leaman

On appointing Meakin, and his assistants, Guernsey FA Director of Football, Tony Vance, commented that:

“As part of the Guernsey FA’s new approach to ensuring it has the right people in position to achieve its desired outcomes for Representative football, I am delighted to be welcoming Leon, Jamie and Jason to these roles with the Under 18 squad. All have extensive experience in football and this will be important as they prepare this group of players for the Stranger Cup and, most importantly, the Junior Muratti in April. Leon has a proven track record of being able to get the best out of his players, and has had recognised success in local club football. This step into Representative football is a great opportunity for him and I am looking forward to watching his progress.

“It is also pleasing to see Jamie Dodd step forward and take on this supporting role because he is an individual who has a natural understanding of the game and a great football brain, whilst Jason will expand the positive work he is already doing with the GFA Under 16 squad. The insight and experience that this coaching group will be able to share with the Under 18 players will be of great value and I am looking forward to seeing how this new management team can take the squad forward.”

Meakin reflected on his appointment when commenting:
“It’s a huge privilege to be asked to lead the Guernsey under 18 squad in this year's Muratti. Many of the players I know well from their performances for and against St Martins in the Priaulx League. My assistants Jason Leaman and Jamie Dodd, and I, are excited to begin working with the group to start preparations for the Muratti, when we meet in the coming weeks and get underway with our Stranger Cup campaign.”

In addition, the new management team has selected the following players for the initial Under 18 squad, which will be involved in the Stranger Cup for the GFA, ahead of selection for the U18 Muratti at the beginning of April.

24th January – Guernsey Rangers
31st January – Sylvans

The date for the U18 Muratti is 6th April.
