New appointment is a game changer local youth football
Scarlett Kenneally has been appointed as the new Football Development Officer and Girls Academy Manager; a new role made possible through Sure’s sponsorship of the Guernsey Football Association’s (GFA) Community Programme.
As Football Development Officer, Scarlett will be leading the charge in delivering a comprehensive football-based PE programme for Year 5 and 6 students across 13 primary schools. Her role will encompass the delivery of PE lessons, lunch clubs and after-school clubs in primary schools.
Scarlett has been playing football for 14 years, and proudly plays for Guernsey as a Green Lioness as a right back. She has also worked as a Coach at Aztech Soccer, training children from reception to year 9.
Mike Fawkner-Corbett, Acting Chief Commercial Officer at Sure, said: “It’s great to have Scarlett on board with the GFA for the Community Programme. We’re confident that Scarlett’s leadership and passion for youth development will bring through Guernsey’s next generation of superstar footballers.
“It marks a significant step in our commitment to fostering youth development and promoting equal opportunities across the island. We look forward to seeing the skills the children learn in her lessons!”
Scarlett said: “Sure’s sponsorship in the Community Programme is so important, because it gives children the opportunity to play football, and provides teachers with more support in encouraging physical literacy and a lifelong love of being healthy and active among young people.”
Scarlett’s role will also see her leading the Mourant Girls Academy as the Girls Academy Manager, where she will oversee the development of young female players and ensure they receive the support needed to thrive in football.
The Community Programme kicks off in September and runs throughout the school year.
